show and tell: my least favourite piece of furniture

IMG_3552.JPG

When we moved to this house we discovered more house than furniture. The biggest beast being the playroom, which is actually a double garage converted.

We knew that we needed something large, functional and that we didn't care about. Enter the sectional.

Shane and i went to a furniture warehouse, walked to a salesperson and said "we want the cheapest sectional you've got."

$300 later we walked out with this monstrosity. It is the centre of the universe that is our house. We watch television here, play trucks here, have the train table positioned right in front for easy access, it was recently home to a now dead mouse and it is where the dogs sleep (see doodle on the cookie monster chair?)

I hate it, but love it. I don't care what happens to it. It has perfect pillows for forts and it even sports the most uncomfortable pull-out bed ever - ensuring guests that we don't want to stay - don't.

The kids can spill silly putty, grape juice and spend fluish afternoons on it with nary a wince from me. I suspect it will be with us a long time. Money well spent.

Show and Tell is brought to you by the lovely and fabulous blackbird.

Awwww...the couch of love.
Sounds like all of my living room furniture. I shall look at it through different eyes now thanks to you.

I like these "shaw and tell" things. Until I get my ever widening ass out there, I can get a glimpse of your home.

SHOW and tell

although, if you use shaw, perhaps it is a little....

okay, that was lame.

My very first grown up purchase was my now-outdated couch, aka The Green Monster. I can't begin to tell you how many times it has been peed on, puked on, spilled on...you get the picture. It is our policy that you really can't have nice furniture until your kids move out.

Ha! Yes, the couch of doom. We have one. As Kim says, you have to wait til your kids move out. We have only THREE more months.

Looks like my very first couch, which was purchased with our wedding money. It served our family well until recently. My brother needed furniture and wasn't in a position to buy so we gave him ours. And bought yet another couch that looks just like yours.

I figure the nice stuff will come when the kiddies are all gone.

It's wonderful/it's horrible,
it's terrific/it's grotesque!

I think you had the perfect attitude when you bought it and can barely believe that it was only $300 - for that price?
it is A TREASURE.

We bought all leather solid durable furniture after spending hours trying to steamclean the cloth couch. You were smart to go cheap with the cloth.

My couches are my worst too! I used to have nice furniture, then, after leaving my ex, I had nothing. My new in-laws gave my husband and I this couch/loveseat set. I HATE it...hate southwestern print, hate the fact if you sit too close to the arm I swear the wood swings out and hits you...I have had many a bruises from it! :(

it may be funky looking, but that's why it's so great. saves you lots of stress not having to worry about the kids damaging it by jumping on it or spilling juice! we need something like that!

I'm enjoying reading through your archives! I, too, am a softball player so I particularly feel for your concussion and your torn pants. Been there, done that!

I just had to comment on this couch! My boyfriend has a chair and gigantic couch with the recliners on each end in this very fabric. Yours is prettier than ours without the cat hair and claw marks. :)
