secret crushes

Yesterday one of the kids spilled a glass of something on my keyboard and rendered it useless. The worst part? This is the third time it has happened. Three keyboards lost to juice boxes.

This is a pattern in our lives. When we got new carpet in the playroom last year we were "never, not ever! going to allow food in this room again!"

Then we had the great mouse infestation of spring 2006 which made us renew our pledge "we will never again! allow food in this room! we suck!"

Last night after the broken keyboard incident and a moldy yogurt tube under the couch we have renewed our pledge "we suck! and we will try really hard to never, ever (except during survivor) have food in the room (oh, also after the kids go to bed it's okay) again!!"

I'm not alone here right?

You are not alone! It's such an uphill battle.

you're definitely not alone, same theme here!

My hubby would take the keyboard and run it thru the dishwasher (no drying heat cycle) and then let it completely air dry. It's only circuits and stuff he says and many of them were workable again (even the electronic ones). It's worth a try before throwing it out. (We own an internet cafe, so we've got some experience with that stuff!) Skip the detergent though :)

Oh man, I feel your pain! I actually had a tear rolling down my cheek from laughter at your post.
So we have said the exact same thing as you have, at the purchase of a new van "we will NEVER eat in this van", the purchase of a new house "we will ONLY eat food in the kitchen"etc. etc. I now have a series of little drops on my new wool livingroom rug (the culprit - sippy cup). One time when going through our photos on the computer I discovered pictures taken by my husband of our mini van without the seats in. He had taken out the seats to pick up a snow blower, and took pictures of the carnage from the kids - crumbs, discarded juice boxes, random McDonalds toys etc. It is horrible and gross but when you spend so much time in the car how else do you survive but silencing them with food???

You are sooo not alone with that eating situation. I laughed at your comment re: the Tube wrappers. Do you know how many of those suckers I have found in my couch!!?

It's a valiant fight, but it won't be won until the kids are much older. So soldier on, honey. Don't buy anything new til they're all over 14.

When we got our new couches we swore up and down we would never allow food on the ever again.

Now when I sit on them I hear the leather unstick as it separates.

We are so weak.

Ha. This morning I watched in shock as Iain gave Owen blueberries. On our new sofa. Ten minutes later I'm doing an emergency load of slipcovers.

Any tips on mice elimination? Besides traps? And being a cleaner person?
