colourful pain

This morning i have done a bad, terrible, brain destroying thing.

I let parker and eliza watch 'teletubbies' and 'barney.'

After suffering through hours and hours of the chubby cartoons with tristan and toby i declared a moratorium: there will be no more overstuffed creepy dinosaur/alien shows in my house.

Sesame street is where it's at. I think the re-found popularity of all things sesame is a backlash by parents against the soul destroying toddler shows of the late 90's.

This morning, tired and needing a little break, i succumbed and my toddler and preschooler have been instantly initiated. They are begging for more. I told them barney, tinky winky, po, la la and dipsy were only on TV for one day. A special day. And they will never, ever visit again.

You do realize Barney is crack to small children. You are now going to have to detox the kiddies. But don't worry, I hear Big Bird and Snuffalufagus have a program for strung out Barney victims.

Iris Murdoch, during her Alzheimers years, used to LOVE teletubbies. That doesn't help, I know.

I thought I was over Barney when my oldest outgrew him, then he came back when the next two were little. As they gew up they moved on to star wars, Shrek and Toy Story but, stupid me I din't burn the Barney tapes and now my 2 & 1yo are singing "I love you, you love me..."

Thankfully since we've given up TV for lent I Barney has left the building but, I know he's not gone, he's just learking waiting to magically appear and torture me some more.

We've all been there.

I know this pain you feel.

HA!

I've told them they were sleeping!

As long as you keep them away from Dragon Tales and Caillou - our birds watch them on PBS, and I hate them both.

Oh God. I hate Barney. I hate the sharing is caring song or whatever it is. BLECH.

Barney-hater here.

I will still watch Sesame Street even though my kids re all too old for it. "C is for Cookie...that's good enough for me. C is for cookie that's good enough for me. C is for cookie, that's good enough for me. Oh! Cookie, Cookie, Cookie starts with C!"

wow.

i just remembered that my favorite sesamite was slimy... what does that mean?
