random blogging

It's late. It's late and i have sufficiently numbed my mind with grammy awards and Lost and Weeds! to the point that i should really be in bed dreaming of Bono rather than here trying to type up something legible.

The grammy's make me want to puke. Shitty music followed up with lot's of bad botox. Sure, i missed a lot, but really at what point did becoming barbie ensure pop-starlet status. I am referring to Christina Agulillera (sp?) and i don't even know what the hell their names are, mimi or something... anyway i find it all so very annoying. The music seems so buried within the popular culture, it is almost secondary to the personna. It's just wrong.

I love music. I'm not so important to even care about what music i like - i just like that people like music. Music helps me to cope with life. I like to feel like i have a soundtrack that is only mine and when i walk along or drive along listening to the chords and the words that they are, for brief moments, part of my life. Recording my station at each interval.

I get great joy from watching parker and tristan, youngest and oldest, dancing together to random songs on her keyboard. I hope that my children can find consolation in music, and eventually bliss, like i have.

I don't even know what i'm trying to say.

Five chickens were murdered in my yard today.

By an owl.

It's all pretty cool - nature. How can i be angry with something so spectacular as a Great Horned Owl, or ten - they hunt in packs apparently.

And Weeds! Am i the only person who likes the show? I don't get it, what's not to love? My favourite 80's and 90's stars revisited as drug dealers/widows/mothers? I love it. Right, you're all watching american idol - losers! Just kidding (sort of).

And wrinkles! Really, tell me your beauty regime. Either here or on your own blog - link back.

I wash with Neutrogena Cleansing wash and finish with whatever anti-wrinkle cream is on sale, usually Oil of Olay, Neutrogena, L'Oreal or Nutrisse. In the morning i shower and lube myself up with Aveeno head-to-toe. I use Aveda shampoo and conditioner, AG Styling products and Bare Minerals make-up.

What about you?

Sad about the chickens. :( Owls are cool though. We used to have a little bitty one come visit us when we first moved in. He still comes by every so often.

Love "Weeds", although I wouldn't mind if they killed off Mary Louise Parker's youngest son. Hate that child. Love the drug family, Kevin Nealon, and especially Elizabeth Perkins.

i have to use cetaphil from head to toe - i have eczema. i use the regular lotion and the liquid soap, and i think my skin is great. my mom's been using plain old oil of olay for 30 years and has nary a wrinkle at 52. oh, and wrinkle cream works best overnight.

sorry about your chicken homicides, but you're right; how can you be mad at the owl? i'm jealous of your owls!

I am dying to see Weeds, but we don't get TMN or whatever channel it plays on here in Canada. I will get the DVDs. (And I don't do Idol, American or Canadian!)

My beauty regimen is simple as I am a slob I suppose. I wash with Oil Of Olay body wash with yummy shea butter. Wash and condition my hair with Wella something or other in a red bottle that costs $15 a bottle and makes John have an aneurism. I use some sort of serum in my very frizzy hair (Farouk something?) that I recently found at Costco for $17 for 3 times as much as you get at the salon for twice as much money. I use Neutrogena with SPF on my face, some lip balm and a bit of liner, a bit of blush on my cheeks and brown black eyeliner. That gets a bit more dramatic when I go out though.

And that's me! Typical Mom!

I like "Weeds".

I use Burt's Bees Carrot Soap and J/A/S/O/N Ester-C Creme.

I just started watching Weeds and I don't know why I didn't start sooner! I love MLP and the other guy from Angels in America who plays her brother. He plays gay way better than straight though, in my opinion.

Wrinkles? I can't help you there. When I was younger I had really nice skin without trying - never washed my face, never used any face cream, never got zits. Now? I think I'm having my second puberty or something. It's definitely changing, and not for the better. It's dry in places, oily in others, I get a zit along with my period every month, and I have all these red patches. I won't even mention the road map making a home on my forehead.....

LB

Consider a toner, between washing and mosturizing. My nose looked like a strawberry, flaky and red, those worst of oily and dry before I started using a toner. It really primes the skin, no matter what your skin type, there are toners for all skin types.

Also I'm wondering if you need the occasional exfoliant scrub to break thru your dryness to the skin beneath? Even if your anti wrinkle cream has stuff that's supposed to do this.

You are doing more hair and make-up than I do.

Hi Jess! The wrinkles marched in overnight when I was 29. Oh yeah and the dark circles under my eyes that won't go away. Grr. I wear MAC studio fix foundation, and before I put it on I use a Clean and Clear undereye sparkler thing you can get at Save On Foods. Pantene shampoo and conditioner. I wash my face with soap, either Oil of Olay or Dove, and then I use Keihl's moisturizer. Oh yeah, and I wear Blistex or for dressup the lipsmackers with the sparkles. I loooove lipsmackers.

I LOVE WEEDS. Mary Louise Parker is hot.

I wash my face with Aveeno facial cleansing soap and Dove. I moisturize with something that has an SPF factor in it but I can't remember what it's called because I always forget to moisturize.

All by Jurlique: Makeup Remover & Cleanser, Rosewater Toner (heavenly smell), and face lotion.

It's GREAT! Not cheap, but lasts a long, long, long, long, long, long time.

And, is SO great!

Is Weeds back on Showtime? I had no idea!! I love that show!! I didn't care for the Grammy's much at all last night especially when they had all the people singing at the same time (Aerosmith, Ciara, Marooon 5, etc) I thought it was really bad this year. I agree.

I?
I have wrinkles --
and a sore throat.

I wash with Body Shop's passionfruit gel daily, use their blue corn scrub once in a while & moisturize with Aveda stuff (the one in the green glass bottle). When it's a real winter (where there's snow and it's cold N stuff) I have to use something 'thicker' to moisturize. I found, in my mid 20's, that my acne was much less of an issue when I washed and moisturized twice a day -which seemed illogical at first but now makes more sense (water-based moisture causes less zits than the body's natural oilyness.. blah blah).

when i saw the dermatologist, he recommended cetaphil as a cleanser and moisterel for cream. both cheap and available in the drugstore or supermarket.

I know what you mean about soundtracks. There are certain artists I will ALWAYS love, no matter what else becomes popular now or down the road, and songs that will forever transport me back to a particular time and state of mind. I can always turn to them.

My beauty regime is simple and pretty cheap. Purpose face wash, Loreal Wrinkle Decrease face lotion (I don't think it's working but it makes me feel like I'm trying), undereye concealer, a little mascara, blush and lip gloss. I lather up my bod with an el cheapo "firming cream" from, I think, Jergens. Again, not working. But I think the skin on my tummy that has been loosened by carrying three kiddos is just completely beyond help...without surgery. I do my own manicures and pedicures when I get the time, which isn't often. I color my own hair (Feria rocks...if you have enough white hairs, they look like highlights! Who knew?)

Sorry about the chickens. Nature can be cruel.

I've tried to get into Weeds, but haven't seen enough. I do enjoy "Dead Like Me", also on Showtime.

Grammys = suckage. Ditto for American Idol. BLEH.

My regime:

- Ivory body wash
- Aveeno body moisturizer (not everyday, because I'm lazy)
- Avon True Porefection cleanser (clay-based) daily
- Olay Complete with SPF 15 moisturizer on my face every day.

I loved Avon's Hydralift moisturizers, and then the bastards got rid of it. Even with my dry skin, I can't handle any heavy creams, so had to switch to Olay.

this chatter is fascinating. thanks for bringing it up, jess. pms'ing like a mofo, so i'm all broken out and sad.

i use an array of generic target brand shampoos and bodywashes and conditioners and face wash. And because while i looooove aveda haircare [rosemary mint! the pomade that looks like deodorant!] iain won't buy it. oh, and i love burt's bees for hands and body shop body butter for everything else.

and i love samples. i have been hoarding a tiny bottle of Confixor for almost two years. mmmm, pathetic.

Hot damn you guys use some nice products and a sprinkle of cheapo store brands. I would love to be able to use Kiehl's and Aveda and even Body Shop stuff. Since kids all that stuff has fallen by the wayside in budgetary tightening. I always ask for Aveda Shampure and Conditioner for christmas and hoard it and use sparingly for as long as possible. Also, make-up! I would love to have nicer and more make-up, but as above there's just no money for it. I buy the Bare Escentuals id foundation off eBay twice a year and the rest is cheap stuff.
